Places to see in Australia: Cairns

There are not many places in the world where you can spend your morning snorkelling through a vibrant underwater playground that is part of the world’s biggest single structure of living organisms, and your afternoon dipping into turquoise water holes, canopied by one of the most diverse and oldest rainforests on the planet. Cairns is a gateway to not one but TWO natural world heritage sites, the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, making it a pretty special place to visit. Don’t leave without doing a horse ride along Cape Tribulation beach, taking a trip out to the GBR or going croc-spotting along the Daintree River.
